Only 29% of owners vacuum after their pets have slept in their bed.
Scientists are warning pet owners to clean their beds more often if they allow their animals to sleep with them.
A study has found one in two owners let their pets share their bed but only 29 percent vacuum up afterwards.
Researchers have sent out a reminder that animals can increase the amount of dust and dirt on the sheets which can lead to allergy problems down the road.
Three in four owners said they were unaware that pollen can cling to fur while seven in 10 didn't know that dust mites can leave their droppings on your cat or dog.
