The number of Gardaí working in roads policing has dropped by 40% in the past 15 years.
620 officers are working in the roads policing unit as of May this year, compared to 1,046 in 2009.
123 people have died on the country's roads so far this year, 10 more compared to the same time last year.
Six of those have occurred in the midlands, with three in Westmeath, and three in Offaly.
Laois remains the only county in Ireland yet to record a fatality.
