The Leaves Festival runs until Saturday.
The author of the book behind the award winning film An Cailín Ciúin will be in the midlands this week.
Claire Keegan will be leading workshops and readings in Laois as part of the Leaves Festival.
Portlaoise poet, Pat Boran, Cullohill chef Rory O’Connell and Midlands 103's Arts Show presnter Claire O Brien are also involved in this year's event to promote literary, music and film in the county.
Work shops are taking place in Portlaoise Prison, Dunamaise Arts Centre and Mountmellick up until Saturday.
