Unions and opposition parties say better pay and conditions are needed for the hospitality sector, along with new laws around tips.

New legislation has been published which aims to give customers clarity on tips paid to workers.

Under the new law, businesses will have to clearly display their policy on how all tips and service charges are distributed among staff.

The new rules will also place tips and gratuities outside of a worker's wages.

But Sinn Fein Senator and Westmeath's Paul Gavan, says there are some gaps in the proposed legislation:
