A Laois rep says a number of homes haven't been upgraded since the 1950s.
Older council properties in need of renovation should be prioritised for retrofitting programmes.
That's the view of Laois councillor John Joe Fennelly who is petitioning the local authority to include the Thornberry estate in Abbeyleix in the next round of upgrades.
The development, which was built in the 1950s, has a number of council properties that haven't been refurbished since their construction.
