An election candidate for Longford-Westmeath claims they were more efficient than the current model.
A Longford-Westmeath general election candidate is calling for the return of town councils.
Gerry Warnock, originally sat as a member of Longford Town Council until it was abolished in 2014.
He's since served as a member of the local authority in Longford, but stepped aside this year to focus on his general election campaign.
Mr Warnock wants town councils established for all towns across Ireland with a population of more than 10,000.
