Just under 3,000 of this year's figures so far for the region come from the Meath-Westmeath Division.
Nearly 5,000 motorists have been caught speeding in the midlands so far this year.
Figures released by the Justice Minister show, up to May 12th, just under 3,000 of those have been recorded in the Meath-Westmeath Garda Division.
Last year, more than 12,000 fixed charge notices for speeding were issued in that division.
1,800 motorists have been penalised for travelling over the speed limit in Laois and Offaly, which saw 6,000 fixed charge notices issued in 2023.
So far this year, 47,000 motorists have been caught speeding around the country.
