The Wheelchair Accessible SPSV Grant Scheme from the National Transport Authority, had around 2,800 applications in a nine day period since applications opened earlier this month.
The Irish Wheelchair Association says there are concerns wheelchair users are not always being prioritised by accessible taxis.
