The Regional Hospital is without a diabetic nurse for the last 18 months.
There's been cross-party calls for clarity on the future of diabetes services in Mullingar Regional Hospital.
Fianna Fáil's Joe Flaherty and Sinn Féin's Sorca Clarke raised the issue in the Dáil last night.
The uncertainty has been ongoing for 18 months since the dedicated diabetic nurse retired, despite having already deferred the retirement in the hope the matter would be resolved.
