An emergency meeting last week was poorly attended.
A desperate plea is being made to ensure one of the midlands main towns is lit up this Christmas.
The Tullamore Christmas Lights committee held an emergency meeting last Thursday evening to try to raise money to covering the operating costs this year.
The impact of covid pandemic on the local business community has left the committee with an outstanding bill of €15,000, with the running costs this year expected to exceed €40,000.

Just five retailers showed up to the meeting in the Bridge House Hotel though, leaving the committee with little option but to pull the plug on the entire endeavor.
However, the group of volunteers is giving the appeal one last push in an attempt to keep the festivities going this year.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to generate funds...
A final decision on whether or not the lights will go up this year will be made on Tuesday 11th October.
