Athlone Sub Aqua Club responded to the call on Thursday, and found the bird trapped in fishing line and a wire fence.
Members Brendan Donnellan and Jude Kilmartin rescued the swan and brought her to the local vet, Ronan Walsh.
After being given the all clear from Mr. Walsh, she was released back into the River Shannon.
