Employers need to be informed on how to respond if a member of staff opens up about domestic violence.
Deirdre Berry from Esker House Women's Refuge in Athlone also says there needs to be more training for businesses so they can have the proper supports in place for employees.
In recent weeks, the Work Life Balance Bill was enacted, allowing all workers in Ireland access to five days paid leave if they're experiencing domestic violence.
Ms. Berry is welcoming the move by AIB to give 10 days of leave, emergency hotel accommodation for five nights, and extra security for victims going to and from work:
