The campaign saw 60kg more light dropped off than last year.
€600 has been donated to a midlands homeless charity following a Christmas Lights appeal.
KMK Recycling led the appeal, inviting people across Offaly and Westmeath to drop off any old or broken Christmas lights to collection points in shopping centres in Athlone, Mullingar and Tullamore.
It was done in aid of the Midlands Simon Community.
The fundraiser has been running since 2015, and this year raised 60kg more than the year previous.
Max Kyck, General Manager of KMK Metals Recycling, who presented the cheque, says:
"As well as the amounts collected through the shopping centres, we also noticed an increase in Christmas lights cabling from other sources such as recycling centres and electrical retailers, so the message is getting across about the importance of recycling old and broken sets."
