First Four Wetland Sites Chosen For Midlands Restoration Project

Wetland areas in Offaly and Westmeath will be the focus of the project.

The first four areas under a Midlands wetland restoration project have been chosen.

The EU Just Transition funded Tóchar Project will focus their efforts on Offaly's Fin Lough, and Westmeath's Scragh Bog, Lough Garr and Lough Owel.

It's part of their efforts to focus on a special type of wetland known as fens and ensuring they're kept healthy over the next few years.

Farmer Mark O'Connor bought land under the project and says it's a way to give back to nature:
