A Midlands railway station is being selected as one of the first locations for a Garda ‘Go Safe’ safety camera.

The camera at Knockcroghery, located between Athlone and Roscommon town.

The campaign, spearheaded by Irish Rail and An Garda Síochána, seeks to improve safety for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and rail passengers by deterring dangerous driving.

These cameras are designed to detect speeding automatically and impose a €160 fine and three penalty points.
