An arrest has been made in relation to the investigation.
Gardaí are urging people in the midlands to take precautions following a string of thefts from cars in Laois.
Personal items have been stolen from vehicles in a number of separate, recent incidents around the Portlaoise area.
Gardaí have made one arrest in relation to that investigation, but are continuing to urge anyone who notices suspicious activity to get in touch with their local Garda Station.
Motorists are also being encouraged to remove all valuables for their car, lock their car every time they step away, and to double-check all windows and doors are secured.
