Gardaí are investigating two incidents that have occurred in Westmeath in the last two weeks.
They are investigating one instance where a man momentarily picked a child up in a housing estate in Clonmore in Mullingar.
Gardaí in the county don't believe there was any attempt to abduct or kidnap the child contrary to online rumours.
Officers are also looking into an incident that took place in Belvedere Hills in Mullingar after locals reported a suspicious approach by a woman to school children at the bus stop near the estate.
