Over 400 hundred people attended a ceremony in Offaly last night, to remember Ashling Murphy.
Huge crowds gathered for the first anniversary mass, which took place at St Brigid’s Church in Mountbolus.
The ceremony featured music from a traditional Irish group, which Ashling played with as a child.
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund, has been set up by her family with the help of a committee to help establish arts and cultural activities in her memory, to create educational, sport and musical scholarships and to promote the Irish language.
They say she will be forever 23, and will never be forgotten, as her tragic loss touched the hearts of many.
A man has been charged in relation to Ashling Murphy’s death and the matter is before the courts.
