The warrant used to search the home of a Westmeath Garda who was suspended after giving a bicycle to a pensioner contained false information.
The Garda's home was searched by members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation in June.
Reports indicate the warrant was obtained on the basis there was prima facia evidence the Garda was suspected of taking a bicycle and a pair of wheels, which were valued at nearly €1,000.
He has since been re-instated after a tribunal cleared him of any wrongdoing last week.
