The chair of the Midlands branch has made the call following the budget announcements.
The Irish Hotels Federation is criticising the decision to maintain the 13.5% VAT increase in the Budget.
Chair of the midlands branch, Dara Cruise, says the budget was a missed opportunity to help make the hotel industry in Ireland competitive again.
It's estimated that tourism contributes €31 million to the economy in Laois each year.
