Irish Water is considering a new facility to alleviate issues.
Irish Water are looking at all options including an additional facility to work with the current water plant in Athlone.
It follows water supply restriction in the town in recent weeks because of the limited capacity at the plant and low levels at the Annagh reservoir.
Regional Operations Manager says a temporpary solution is being worked on and it's hopes that this measue will be in place in the next 9 months.
John O' Donoghue says the aim is to reduce these restrictions:
Irish Water customers in Westmeath are facing a second night of disruptions to their supply.
The restrictions are being put in place in Athlone to allow water levels in the Annagh reservoir to recover following a mechanical failure at the water treatment plant.
The utility says it's necessary to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime.
Customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Athlone and surrounds will be impacted.
