John Mulholland has been in the job for the last nine years.
The CEO of Laois County Council says he doesn't see any 'missed opportunities' during his time serving the local authority.
John Mulholland is set to retire next month after holding the position for the past nine years.
The population of Laois sits at 91,000, according to the 2022 Census, but Mr. Mulholland says he expects that number to climb to 100,000 in the near future.
He says he's seen the people of Laois take a view of protecting the environment and providing green spaces in their biggest town, Portlaoise:
