People in Laois are the hardest working in the country according to new research.

The procure.ie study, which uses CSO data, puts Laois on top based on average distance and time workers travel, along with a low unemployment rate.

Both Westmeath and Offaly are in the top ten, in fifth and seventh respectively.

Each county had a potential score of three hundred, based on the three metrics with Laois scoring 271.5, Westmeath 243, and Offaly at 242.
