Laois Runner-Up At Stripe Young Scientist Hoping To Further Project

Portlaoise St Mary CBS'S Joshua Corbett entered a project that aims to treat glioblastoma.

A Laois student who placed as the runner- up in the Stripe Young Scientist Exhibition says he wants to change patient's lives for the better.

Portlaoise St Mary CBS'S Joshua Corbett entered the competition with his project, 'There’s Plenty of Room to Breakthrough at the Bottom’ 

The Leaving Cert student is working on ground-breaking technology which will help treat people dealing with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer.

Mr Corbett says it's more than just a project to him:


Moate Community College's Rachel Coughlan snagged a sustainability award for biodegradable chewing gum.

She says she feels confident in the future of her product:

While Tullamore College's 2nd year students, Killian Dromey and Rachel Carroll, are taking home the top prize in Health & Wellbeing's Junior section.

Their winning entry focuses on how the natural pH of cabbage juice can be used to detect and track infections.
