Watermains in Mountmellick will see the upgrade.
An upgrade to the water network in a Laois town is set to be carried out in the coming weeks.
Nearly 400m of cast iron and aged watermains in Mountmellick are to be replace by Uisce Eireann, as part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The works are taking place along Parnell Street, between Pearse Street and Connolly Street.
The main works will be carried out in phases over the next six months in order to minimise disruption to the local community.
Traffic management will be in place from June 9th, in the form of traffic lights and lane closure.
