Four midlands libraries are to have their opening hours extended as part of the an initiative to improve access to services.
The My Open Library scheme was piloted at in Banagher and Tullmamore and is now being extended to another 17 branches around the country.
It means facilities are available on a self-service basis from 8am to 10pm every day of the year.
It's now in operation in Ferbane - will be introduced in Portarlington next month - and be rolled out in Edenderry and Moate in 2020.
It's part of a €1.5 million investment from the Department of Rural and Community Development, and a further €500,000 from local authorities.
