The Independent candidate left The Green Party before declaring herself for the upcoming election.
Improving local transport links to the main city hubs around Ireland is a key component of a Longford-Westmeath general election candidate's campaign.
Louise Heavin previously served as a member of Westmeath County Council before losing her seat in this summer's local elections.
She has since left the Green Party to run as an Independent candidate.
