Thomas Ryan, aged 39, is scheduled to reappear before Portlaoise District Court on Monday.
A man in his 30s has appeared in court, charged in connection with a multi-million-euro drug seizure earlier this week.
116 kilos of cocaine were recovered by Gardai in County Laois on Tuesday.
39 year old Thomas Ryan with an address at Rathdowney, Co Laois appeared before Portlaoise District Court this morning.
He’s been charged with the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell or supply at Kilnaseer, Rathdowney, Co.Laois.
The charges relate to the seizure of 116 kilos of suspected cocaine, valued at approximately €8m, along with a number of electronic devices, at a residential address and lands in Co Laois earlier this week.
The court heard Thomas Ryan was arrested and charged on Tuesday night at Abbeyleix Garda Station.
He made no reply after each caution.
Gardai said there would be objections to bail - however no bail application was made.
The 39 year old was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison.
He will appear again via video link at Portlaoise District Court on Monday November 3rd.
