A man charged with the assault of an elderly woman in Westmeath is due back in court today.
54-year-old Peter Keaney, of 7 Hillside Close, Monksland, Athlone, Roscommon, is charged with section 3 assault causing harm to a woman in her 80s after allegedly entering the care home on April 29th.
He appeared before a sitting of Athlone District Court and Judge Bernadette Owens last week, after which he was remanded in custody.
He's due to appear before a sitting again today, when a bail application is expected to be made.
