It happened near Mullingar yesterday evening.
A man in his 70s has died following a crash in Westmeath last night.
The single vehicle collision occurred in the Gainstown area of Mullingar at about 7pm.
The man - who was the sole occupant of a van - was pronounced dead at the scene.
His remains have been removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital and a forensic examination of the scene has taken place.
