It happened at around midday today.
A man in his 40s is in hospital after an incident involving an e-scooter in Westmeath.
Gardaí are at the scene of the incident, which occurred at around midday at Saunders Bridge in Mullingar.
The man has been taken to Tullamore Hospital with serious injuries.
There were no other injuries reported.
The road remains closed pending a technical examination.
