Dan Donoher, from Ballybrittas, was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and scoliosis, and needed life-saving treatment in the US.
The nation rallied and raised over €2m for the 'Do it for Dan' campaign, but the young boy was ineligible for treatment due to a virus he contracted.
