The car park has already been closed for two weeks.
Uisce Éireann says it hopes a midlands car park, which has been closed for two weeks, will be ready to be reopened by the end of this year.
The Strand Car Park in Athlone is closed while the latest round of works on the massive wastewater project in the town are carried out.
The €114 million development is due to be completed by the end of 2025, and will see 3km of new sewer pipes installed in the town.
