Michael Moore Car Sales are planning to build new vehicle facilities, valet and car wash buildings.
One of the Midlands flagship car sales companies is re-applying for planning permission for a major expansion.
The move comes after Michael Moore Car Sales saw their application to construct four vehicle service and sales buildings in Athlone rejected by An Bord Plenala.
The project was initially given the green light by Westmeath County Council subject to conditions, before Transport Infrastructure Ireland objected on the grounds it would affect the safety of the national road network.
The application, if successful, would see the demolition of a vacant building beside its showrooms and offices at Creggan Upper, in Fardrum, and in its place would be two single story vehicle service and sales facilities, along with two buildings listed as single story valet and car wash buildings.
One of these buildings will be specifically for Mercedes showrooms, while the applicant says the plans build on the previous unsuccessful application around the issues of foul water management and road safety on N62.
A decision is due on July 23rd.
