The HSE has confirmed that Offaly County Council have plans for the hospice.
A doctor who has been campaigning for a Midlands hospice for the last 8 years believes it will be transformative for palliative care patients in the region.
Dr Pauline Kane, who's a Consultant in Palliative Medicine, says people in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath will have access to a day therapy unit for the first time.
It comes as the HSE confirms that plans for the Midlands hospice have been given to Offaly County Council.
Dr Kane says the hospice will support patients and families on their journey so they can have a good quality of life:
