Patients who require urgent care will be prioritised.
The Emergency Department at Mullingar Regional Hospital is "extremely busy" today.
Management say teams are working to deal with the current Adult In-patient capacity together with scheduled care.
It's asking patients to consider their options before attending the ED.
Patients who require urgent care will be prioritised, and management are thanking the public for understanding.
It's also reminding patients who are over the age of 16 with the following injuries they can attend the Regional Hospital Mullingar Minor Injury Unit located at Charter Medical Private Hospital in Ballinderry:
• Suspected broken bones to arm (from collar bone to fingertip)
• Suspected broken bones in legs (from knees to toes)
• Sprains and strains
• Wounds, bites (animal or insect) cuts, grazes and scalp laceration
• Minor burns and scalds
• Foreign bodies
• Minor chest injuries
