A total of 640 people nationwide are employed by Eurogiant.
Midlands jobs are under threat following the news that the company that runs the Eurogiant chain of discount stores is going into liquidation.
A spokesperson for the company says rising costs and increased competition mean the business is no longer viable in its current form.
All stores remain open and are trading as normal while a full review of the store network is carried out.
The company, which employs 640 people, runs stores across the Midlands with outlets in Athlone, Mullingar, Tullamore, and Portlaoise among 77 shops nationwide.
