A midlands dog breeding establishment has been ordered to close by the local authority.
The order says it poses a 'serious and immediate threat to public health and animal welfare.'
Offaly County Council issued the notice to the owner / operator Mark Kirwan, Dereen, Cloneygowan.
The local authority has found the premises is not compliant with Section 15 of the Dog Breeding Act, and also states both the establishment and operator are not registered with Offaly County Council.
Mr. Kirwan has been ordered to cease breeding or keeping dogs on the premises.
He can appeal the notice to the District Court.
