A Midlands MEP is condemning the European Commission’s decision to provisionally implement the EU Mercosur Trade Agreement. 

Ciaran Mullooly is warning it undermines democratic process and legal certainty within the bloc.

He believes the decision ignores the position taken by the European Parliament and the ongoing legal process before the Court of Justice.

The MEP is also calling on the Irish Government to clarify whether it supports or opposes the move.

He says proceeding without parliamentary ratification or judicial clarification represents 'a clear breach' of institutional balance under EU treaties:
