"It Takes A Village" was hosted by Nina Carberry.
A Midlands MEP held a community-led online safety initiative in Brussels this week.
Representatives from "It Takes A Village" visited Brussels to present their project to Irish MEPs and senior officials within the European Commission.
The project aims to promote a collective delay in smartphone ownership until children reach secondary school, which includes 57,000 children living across Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.
MEP Nina Carberry says "protecting children online is one of my core priorities" and that she will continue working with the project team to expand support for the model across Europe and the Midlands.
