Midlands School Caretakers And Secretaries Picket Outside TD's offices

They are calling for equal pension rights.

Further pressure needs to be put on Government to bring equal pension rights for secretaries and caretakers back to the Workplace Relations Commission. 

That's the view of Laois Forsa Leinster rep Esther Lutrell, as both groups are continuing their strike on the issue today. 

Today's picket line has moved from outside schools to TD's offices across the Midlands. 

In Laois, Fine Gael rep Willie Aird has met with local Forsa members picketing outside his base in Portlaoise. 

Ms Lutrell says this can escalate further: 

School caretakers and secretaries are picketing outside the offices of local TD's in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath today. 

They're continuing strike action in a row over pensions and work public-sector employment benefits. 

The Forsa trade union says there has been no engagement from government since discussions at the Workplace Relations Commission last week.  

Workers gathered outside the Tullamore office of Fianna Fáil rep Tony McCormack this morning calling for equality of employment terms.
