A midlands school has been given the green light for a major expansion.
Plans for seven new rooms at Scoil Phádraig Naofa NS, in Mountmellick, have been approved to go to tender.
The development will include the construction of three new mainstream classrooms, three resource rooms; and one home-school liaison room.
A contractor will now be sought to carry out the works.
The move is being welcomed by Laois Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming, who says he looks forward to an early successful tender process and construction works commencing as soon as possible.
