Midlands students are being recognised as winners at the first Future Timber Design Awards.
Sustainable timber technology student, Portarlington's Úna Duffy, was announced a TU Dublin winner of the Best Use of Homegrown Timber award for a collaborative project developing a modular bus shelter made primarily from Irish-grown timber.
Evan Farrell from Athlone and Clarenz Pedoche from Mullingar were also recognised as winners.
The Future Timber Design Awards, aims to promote innovative, sustainable timber design and construction while bridging academic learning with real-world practice to equip students with relevant industry skills.
The overall winner was awarded a Future Timber Design Awards trophy along with a €600 prize, while runners-up in various categories received cash prizes.
