The first regional enterprise plan was launched in Tipperary today.
The midlands regional plan will cover Offaly, Westmeath, Laois and Longford. The plans aims to encourage the development of rural Ireland in the coming years.
Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Robert Troy TD said: “The Regional Enterprise Plans to 2024 represent the ambition and drive within each region to capitalise on their unique strengths and seize the opportunities for their region. The Regional Plans that we are launching today and over the next few weeks set out a number of key strategic areas where regional stakeholders will work together to build a balanced regional recovery, one that is focused on future enterprise development and sustainable job creation for the longer term.
“I have been keen to ensure that funding will be made available to drive the Regional Enterprise Plans and I am very pleased that we have secured up to €180m in funding over the coming years. This funding is necessary for the development of collaborative regional projects that will drive delivery of the objectives developed in the Regional Enterprise Plans and I look forward to launching the Plans across the country in the coming weeks.”
