It follows the signing of a new contract to progress the project.
Contracts have been signed to develop a new link road in Offaly.
The route will stretch from High Street to Tanyard in Tullamore, with Kenny Civils and Plant Limited announced as the successful tenderers.
It will coincide with the introduction of a one-way traffic system from the Tanyard through O'Connor Square, which Offaly County Council says will allow for the regeneration of the former Carrol's and Coen's sites, which are targeted in the Eastern and Midlands Regional Assemblies, Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy.
It also says the new link street will enable a wide spectrum of mixed town centre uses.
Works are due to commence on the project in the coming weeks.
Chief Executive of Offaly County Council, Anna Marie Delaney, is welcoming the development:
"The Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy is a strategic plan which identifies regional assets, opportunities and pressures and provides appropriate policy responses in the form of Regional Policy Objectives.
This project is funded under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund, by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, which along with the support of our elected officials continue to benefit local residents and the business community."
