Number Of Homeless Children In Midlands Rises By 23%

In total 147 people were in emergency accommodation in April.

The number of homeless children in the midlands has risen.

According to the lastest figures from the Department of Housing, 147 people were in emergency accommodation in April.

That includes 47 dependents - which has increased from 38 on figures for March.

In Westmeath, 32 adults are in emergency accommodation, with 31 in Laois, and 28 in Offaly.

Nationally, the number of homeless has fallen more than 500 on the previous month.

But Mark Cooney from the Midlands Simon Community says that drop isn't reflected in our region:
