Offaly TD Wants Realistic Approach To Heating Homes

Up to 40% of households still rely on peat for central heating.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil and wood pellet burners should be considered as an alternative to fuel for homes. 

That's according to Offaly Fine Gael rep John Clendennen, as according to the last census, up to 40% of households in some towns in Offaly still rely on peat for central heating. 

Deputy Clendennen believes a more realistic, phased approach should be taken to recognises the limits of infrastructure, affordability and choice for homeowners.

He says he wants people to have a choice in how they heat their homes:
