Laois County Council's Vacant Homes Office has surveyed two towns, which were described as having issues with dereliction.
In Mountmellick, 63 homes were found to be empty, and 50 were identified in Mountrath.
The report also found 31 applications have been submitted to the local authority for the Croí Conaithe scheme, which provides grants of up to €50,000 to refurbish vacant homes.
Five of those have been approved so far.
