Over 1,000 life-threatening calls weren't responded to within an hour, according to new figures.
A response time of 2 hours and 47 minutes in Laois was the the 10th longest in the country, and the longest in the midlands.
That's followed by 2 hours and 18 minutes in Offaly, and 1 hour and 58 minutes in Westmeath.
The HSE has outlined a target of a 19 minute ambulance response time to a life-threatening heart or respiratory arrest in 75% of cases.
