Over €65K Funding For Midlands Agricultural Shows

The shows are taking place in summer this year.

Midlands Agricultural Shows are set to receive over €65,000.

Funding of more than €1 Million has been allocated to agricultural shows across the country as part of a national investment.

A total of 126 agricultural shows nationwide will benefit from grants helping show committees prepare for the upcoming show season.

Westmeath is seeing the largest Midlands allocation at €36,800 under the scheme.

The Mullingar Show is receiving €10,000, Athlone Agricultural Show and Moate Agricultural Show will see €9,200 in funds and €8,400 is going towards the Midlands Connemara Pony Show.

Two shows in Laois will receive €16,800.

The Ossory Agricultural Show and the Clonaslee & District Show are getting €8,400 each.

Meanwhile the Tullamore Show in Offaly is set to receive €11,400.

Minister Calleary is announcing the funding as the Irish Shows Association launched its 2026 Yearbook at an annual event in Athlone.

He says the events provide an opportunity for friendly competition, community gatherings and showcasing the quality of Irish livestock and produce.

Since the scheme began in 2017, more than €6.3 million has been allocated to agricultural shows nationwide, helping sustain a 200-year tradition in rural Ireland.

The Minister is encouraging people to go along and support their local show.

Offaly TD John Clendennen says the funding recognises the vital role that agricultural shows such as the Tullamore Show play in supporting rural communities, showcasing our farming sector, and bringing people together:
